Virginia Lee Burton <> The Little House <> Folly Cove Designers

Working in collaboration with the Cape Ann Museum, 2nd and 3rd grade students studied the life and art of Virginia Lee Burton.  She was an artist, designer and author who was based in Cape Ann during the 1940s.  Burton wrote many children’s books including The Little House, Mike Mulligan & his Steam Shovel and Katy the Big Snow.  She also, started the design and printmaking group called the Folly Cove Designers.  The Cape Ann Museum provided us with many educational  materials including books, a map, printmaking linoleum from her WWII era, printmaking materials, artworks, a dvd of her life and art.
