Flamingo Collage Art <<>> Palm Leaf Art

Second grade students studied John James Audubon’s life and painting “American Flamingo”. Using their splatter paint paper, they created a collage of palm leaves and flamingos. Students practiced new tropical nature shapes and cutting multiple leaves from one drawn leaf.

  1. I love your presentation of student work Kristen. Our art forms are fundamentally very different but also very connected. Music is received aurally in a live or recorded performance and happens in real time, Art is already completed and received visually by the audience. Yet we have in common that both art forms strive to awaken students aesthetic sense, analytical mind, and creative spirit. I love seeing what create in your class and it makes me smile and relax for a moment when I pass your bulletin boards with their work. It contributes so much to creating a cultural community in our building.
