2nd grade Art Classes:

During the end of September and at the beginning of October, we worked on drawing the figure by breaking it down into shapes using poses with the wooden figure models. Next, the students became Fine Artists and the models for a class when we did Gesture drawings ranging from a 5 minute pose with one student model to a 30 second pose with multiple student models. They were very focused in getting down as much visual information and mark making as they could in the time allowed. I was very impressed with their dedication and concentration!

Now, the lesson is ending with a Halloween twist! The students are using a complete 3ft. skeleton tracer to a make a large skeleton composition. We will learn a few names of the figure and bones when creating the composition. Then, practice color mixing with oil pastels. The skeletons will be displayed in the front Gallery at Cutler at the end of October.
