1^st grade Art Classes:

During the end of September and part of October, we worked on drawing from life using a fall still life theme.  I taught the students how to “draw what they see” and to notice the details in objects.  Next, the students learned how to paint a background using large brushstrokes and how to show distance in relation to the placement of objects in the foreground. We practiced color mixing with the color wheel. When all parts of the still lifes have had their color added, students will practice overlapping and underlapping of their Fall objects to design a complete composition.  The still lifes will be displayed in the front Gallery at Cutler at the end of October.
